Lotta Dynasty Takes Mile High Futurity Victory

AURORA, CO—AUGUST 17, 2014—George and Judy Weldon's homebred Lotta Dynasty held off Toshi Yoshi by-a-head Sunday afternoon to win the $158,800 Mile High Futurity at Arapahoe Park. One Corona At A Time finished third by-a-neck in the blanket finish.

Ridden by Benito Baca, Lotta Dynasty got the first call and was fully extended at the end of the 400 yard course while clocking a :19.850 winning time. The $67,720 winner's purse swelled his bankroll to $69,620.

Trainer Blake Rust saddled the FDD Dynasty gelding to his third win in six starts the season. The Weldon's bred the sorrel gelding in Utah from the Dash Ta Fame mare Gotta Lotta Fame.

The lightly raced Toshi Yoshi entered the race off his second straight win that included the Rocky Mountain Futurity on June 15. Trainer Manuel Orozco saddled the homebred for Dana Yoshida-Orozco. Ramiro Garcia rode the Pool gelding out of Mairis Money Maker, by The Corona. He earned $31,620 to nearly double his earnings to $64,894 in only four career starts.

Multiple stakes-placed One Corona At A Time settled for his second third-place futurity finish this season after also taking third in the Rocky Mountain on June 15. Jose Manuel Barron conditions the homebred One Famous Eagle filly for owner Hugo Barron Sierra. Francisco Giles was aboard the Colorado-bred form the Corona For Me mare Corona For You. The $18,816 third place check brings her total earnings to $33,738.

Wavin To My Doll, Blowing Withthe Wind, Kocodrilo Cartel, Royal N Cute, Sweet Solid Rock, Stormy Runaway and Hey Hey Hey Hey completed the field.
