Tf Cajun Cartel Holds On To Win Rainbow Quarter Horse Juvenile Invitational

RUIDOSO DOWNS—JULY 20, 2014—Fernandez Ascencion, Jr's Tf Cajun Cartel broke well and held off a late rally by You N Me to win the $50,000 Rainbow Quarter Horse Juvenile Invitational by a head on Sunday at Ruidoso Downs. Chasin Mojo finished half-a-length back in third.

Getting his second win in three starts, Tf Cajun Cartel raced over the 400 yard course in :19.773 seconds, a 90 speed index into the five mph headwind. Ridden by Tanner Thedford, the $21,000 winner's purse boosted TF Cajun Cartel's career total to $24,824.

Saddled by Fernando Carrete the Corona Cartel colt entered the race off a July 3 win when he posted the 9th fastest time on first of two days of Rainbow Futurity trials.

Denis and Julie Schoenhofer purchased Tf Cajun Cartel for $35,000 at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale from his breeder Steve Tate. Current owner Fernandez Ascencion, Jr. bought the colt out of Dashadee, by Mr Jess Perry, a couple of weeks prior to the Rainbow Futurity trials.

21 Partnership's You N Me earned $9,000 for her second place effort. Also a Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate, You N Me was purchased for $13,500 from the Estate of Kim Kessinger. Tom Bradbury and Kessinger bred the sorrel miss in Oklahoma from the First Down Dash mare Fancys First Affair. Gene Burden saddled with Joe Badilla, Jr. in the irons.

Valeriano Racing Stables LLC paid $38,000 for Chasin Mojo at the September Heritage Place Yearling Sale. Weetona Stanley and W.E. Smith bred the Spit Curl Jess gelding out Fast Prize Corona, by Corona Cartel, in Oklahoma. Toby Keeton trains with Cody Jensen getting the riding call. Chasin Mojo earned $5,000 for his third place Juvenile effort.

Completing the Rainbow Juvenile Invitational field were Our Mr Hero, Jess Kid Rock, Rocka Daisy, Diehard Diane, Whosa Kat, Flyin Goose and Jumpn Fire.
