Design Tobe A Winner Steps Up In Animas Stakes at SunRay Park Sunday

FARMINGTON, NM—APRIL 20, 2014—James Lynn's Design Tobe A winner scored her first stakes win Sunday following a neck win over Jess Sandy Jr in the $35,000 Animas Stakes at SunRay Park. This Lady Is On Fire finished three-quarter behind the leaders in the show position.

Under jockey Larry Gamez, Design Tobe A Winner was speed all the way as she went wire-to-wire in a :19.359 clocking for the 400 yard distance. Saddled by trainer Wes Giles, the Winner's Version filly earned a 97 speed index and picked up the winner's purse of $21,000 to boost her career total to more than $40,000.

David and Ross Hinkins race Jess Sand Jr, a colt by leading New Mexico sire Jesse James Jr from the Streakin Dash mare Dashin Sandy. MJ Farms bred the sorrel in New Mexico.

Manuel Gutierrez had the riding call for trainer Emilo Cadena III. The $7,500 place check rolled his earnings mare to nearly $62,000.

The lightly raced This Lady Is On Fire finished three-quarter behind the leaders to earn $3,500 for owner Leslee Dominguez. Breeder/trainer Jaime Dominguez conditions the Walk Thru Fire filly out of Fitness Lady, by Heza Fast Man. Raul Gutierrez was riding.

Frans Hero, Famous Edge Of Glory, Wr Golden Eagle and Winter Haven completed the field.
