OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 18, 2014—The Grade 1, $100,000 Leo Stakes in late March didn’t pan out for Painted Josy who ran last in the field of nine. Friday night at Remington Park, the gelding came back to allowance conditions and fared much better, posting a half-length win over 400 yards.

Owned and bred by George and Linda Carter of Nowata, Okla. and trained by Tana Pace, Painted Josy was ridden by G.R. Carter in the $28,400 allowance race. The 4-year-old rolled to victory from his rail post position, beating his nine foes while crossing the finish in :19.699 seconds over a fast track. Preying For Ivory was second while Three Jax was third.

Painted Josy was 9-2 in the wagering and paid $11.20 to win, $5.40 to place and $3.80 to show. Preying For Ivory returned $4.20 to place and $3.80 to show. Three Jax paid $10.60 to show. If I Were Famous was the 9-5 betting favorite, running a beaten seventh.
