PHONEIX, AZ—APRIL 28, 2013—Xavier Paul Cardenas' Sea Panther Run scored his third straight win in four starts this season Sunday afternoon in the $16,000 Bob and Ben Stakes at Turf Paradise.

Under jockey Jarell James, the 4-year-old held off Specials Gold by a head to pickup the $9,424 winner's purse. Sea Panther Run completed the 440 yards in :21.486 seconds, a 101 speed index.

Omar Lorta trains the Panther Mountain gelding from the Mr Jess Perry mare Yacht Sea. Sunday's victory pushed his earnings mark to nearly $26,000 with a 5-2-1 record in 14 career starts. Russell Moward bred Sea Panther Run in Louisiana.

Specials Gold picked up $3,040 for owner Gilberto Jasso and trainer Ceasar J. Lopez. Leonardo Gonzalez had the riding assignment aboard the 4-year-old Voughts Gold gelding from the Make It Anywhere mare Special Anywhere. A 3-time winner, Specials Gold has earned $65,251. A.C. Taylor is the breeder. l

Nadia Azvala's Whiskey finished a head back in the show position for trainer Juan Quintana Gutierrez. Emilto Tapia was up to earn $1,520 for the effort. Ariel Rodriguez bred the 5-year-old Mr Corona Cash gelding in Arizona from the Splash Bac mare Been Bad N Bac.

Completing the field were Downtown Richard, Surf Dog, Fast Dreams, Choose Fast, Three Wagons, Bringin It On and Bv Fly First Class.
