News Prince Impresses With Four Length Win in Turf Paradise Maiden Trials

PHOENIX, AZ—OCTOBER 7, 2012—Making his first start since April, Jose Acosta's News Prince raced to a four-length win and the fastest qualifying time Sunday afternoon for the Turf Paradise Maiden Stakes.

The 10 fastest qualifiers form four trial races will return to the Arizona racetrack on October 21st and vie for the winner's purse going 350 yards.

Under jockey Rodolfo Arvizu the Rare News 3-year-old completed the 350 yards in :18.025 seconds into a 10 mph head wind. Richard Saldana trains the colt out of the This Snow Is Royal mare This Babe. Michael and Teri Dinnell bred the lightly raced News Prince in Montana.

Alejandro Ortega rode Shameless Shaw to a neck victory over A Country Chick in the second trial to post the second fastest clocking of :18.204. Dennis Marsteller trains the homebred gelding by Never Shamed (TB) for Jo Ann Di Fillippo. He is out of the Blushing Bug mare Dpi Let It Ride.
