Heza Door Prize Breaks Maiden With Top Time in Sterlie Bertram Memorial Stakes Trials

ANDERSEN, IN—SEPTEMBER 30, 2012—Alberto Valadez' Heza Door Prize broke his maiden in his second career start on Saturday while posting the top qualifying time for the $100,000-added Sterlie Bertram Memorial Stakes at Hoosier Park.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from the three trial races will return to the Indiana racetrack on October 13th to vie for the winner's share of the 350 yard event for 3-year-old Indiana-breds.

Making his first start in over year, Heza Door Prize broke alertly under jockey Cesar Carrilo, completing the 350 yards in :17.911 seconds to win by half-a-length. Jorge Gonzalez saddles the First Prize Perry gelding out of Rectitude, by Heza Fast Man. Heath Taylor is the breeder.

Dezenzo held off U B Crawlin by a neck in the second trial to set the second fastest time of :17.952. Owned and trained by Randy Smith, the Ivory James gelding was ridden by Victor Olivo to his third win in five starts this season. Diana Moster bred Dezenzo from the First Down Laveaux mare Hooked On Laveaux.

Coming off a win in the $50,000 QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Derby on August 18, Successful Dash got his fifth win of the season in the final trial. Under jockey Gerardo Garido, the Cartel Success gelding completed the 350 yards in the third fastest time of :17.964. Thomas Mosley, Jr., trains Successful Dash for Randy Thompson. Bred by Bill Price from the Dash For Cash mare Rita Anns Dash, the bay has earned more than $70,000.
