Wh Johnnie Boy Red Big Winner, Indiana Downs Hosts Over $575,000 in QH Stakes on Saturday Card

SHELBYVILLE, IN—JUNE 30, 2012—Indiana Downs hosted an entire card of Quarter Horse racing on Saturday, including five stakes races for more than $575,000.

The $130,700-added Jaguar Rocket QH Stakes, $118,920 Heartland Futurity, $113,800 Blue River Derby, $110,400 Bob Woodward Classic and the $105,160 Indiana Grand QHRAI Derby were feature races of the night.

Fastest Qualifier Wh Johnnie Boy Red Returns in Jaguar Rocket

Julia Rae Martin's Wh Johnnie Red raced to his third consecutive victory with a neck win over Sixy Lil Garter in the $130,700 Jaguar Rocket Stakes for two-year-olds on Saturday.

Jockey Victor Olivo repeated the chestnut's trial effort from June 19 when he posted the top qualifying time for trainer Paul Martin. The Jonathan Perry gelding out of Fast Mans Dash, by Heza Fast Man, completed the 300 yards in :17.672 seconds, a 98 speed index. The $60,720 winner's purse swelled his bank account to $86,173 after only four starts.

Randy Smith's Dean Miracle filly Sixy Lil Garter earned $22,080 for her effort. Also trained by Smith, Sixy Lil Garter was ridden by Ruben Serna. Out of the Reckless Dash mare Spurs N Garters, she has earned just over $36,000 in three starts.

Still winless after four starts, Kitticelli led late before settling for third, earning $13,070 for owner Jane Marie Arendsen. Dicky Wayne Benton trains the Genuine Botticelli gelding out of Kittens Line, by Sun Line. Coronet Farms are the breeder.

Tinys First Pepsi, Zoom N 324, Wrangling For Money, Its Jus Max, Jess A James, Flys No Mystery and Hoosier Rabbit completed the order of finish.

Teller Sweet Nothings Moved Up In Heartland Futurity

Teller Sweet Nothins was named the winner of the $118,920 Heartland Futurity after Habits Secret drifted out and was disqualified and placed second for interference.

Racing for John Wolpert, Teller Sweet Nothins came into the race with the second fastest qualifying time behind Princess Lil Bit. Wolpert also saddled the Teller Cartel filly out of the Streakin La Jolla mare Bits Of Bliss. Under jockey Yordanis Amaro, the bay miss completed the 300 yards in :15.453 seconds, a 99 speed index, losing by only a neck. The $65,406 winner's purse pushes her career total to $72,706. Thomas Bradbury and Lisa Beauprez bred Teller Sweet Nothins in Colorado.

Following the disqualification, Habits Secret, a colt of All American Futurity winner and first crop sire No Secrets Here, earned $23,784 for second. Owned and trained by Ricardo Martinez, the sorrel is technically still a maiden from three starts. He came into the finals off a fifth place effort and final qualifying time to the Heartland Futurity final. Ridden by Yordanis Amaro, Vessels Stallion Farm, LLC bred Habits Secret in California from the Apollo (TB) mare Habitual Dreamer.

Another maiden, Huntin Ivory, finished a nose back in the show position, earning $11,892 for Starlet Hunt and David Tolle. Charlton Hunt trains the Ivory James gelding out of Baja Rosa, by Dean Miracle. Ridden by Victor Olivo, he bay was bred in Kansas.

Completing the field were Salado Secret, Wrs Kool Blaze, Princess Lil Bit, Seis Got Zoom, Wrs Kool Corona and Casey Corona.

Chilled Six Pack Puts Blue River Derby on Ice

Raymond Vickie Duke's Chilled Six Pack returned to the winner's circle for the second straight time Saturday night after inching up on Princess Royal Blew in the $113,800 Blue River Derby. Under jockey Shanley Jackson, the brown gelding covered 350 yards in :18.010 seconds to win by a nose.

It was the second career stakes victory for the John McCreary trainee. Last season the Chilled Corona-Six Packing Robin, by Packin Sixes Jr, won a futurity at Hoosier Park. The $62,690 winner's purse on Saturday pushed his career mark over $142,000 with a 4-2-0 record in eight starts. He came into Saturday's race as the fastest qualifier from the June 9th trials.

Princess Royal Blew is a homebred racing for Coronet Farm and trained by Carol Rettele. With Troy Crissup in the saddled the Royal Blue Chew Chew filly earned $22,760 for her effort. Out of the Sun Line mare Kittens Line, she has earned $31,315.

Always close, Will You Perry Me finished a neck back in the show position for owner Eric Doctor. Ron Raper trains the Dashing Val filly out of Streakin Keep Sake, by Mr Jess Perry. Ridden by Oscar Delgado, Will You Perry me earned $11,380. Jennifer Haynes is the breeder.

Completing the field were U B Crawlin, Dezenzo, Successful Dash, Swiper, Chilled Patrona and Six Chilled Coronas.

Air Born Leader Continues Win Streak in Bob Woodward Classic

Randy Thompson's homebred Air Born Leader made it four in a row Saturday night as he easily won the $110,400 Bob Woodard Classic by one-length over Fillemup Phil.

Also his second stakes win this season at Indiana Downs, Air Born Leader earned $60,720 for trainer Thomas Mosley, Jr. Under jockey Gerardo Garrido, the Leader Of The Class 4-year-old completed his 350 yard task in :17.672 seconds, a 98 speed index. The winner's purse pushed his career total to more than $236,000 with a 7-4-1 record after 18 starts. He is out of the Born Runner mare Air Born Jazz.

Brian Gunder's Fillemup Phil earned $22,080 for second, to push his total earnings to $192,788. Danny Lang trains the Brookstone Bay 5-year-old out of Miss Reminice, by Premiership. Aron Hunt had the riding call aboard the bay gelding bred by Guy Trolinger.

Gypsy Effort, a homebred racing for Donna Gerard, finished a length back in third to earn $11,040. Paul Martin trains with Carter Riley riding. Gypsy Effort is 6-year-old Call Me Together gelding out of Cajun Style, by Louisiana Slew (TB).

Ct Leader, Shawne Bay, Bright Eyed Vision, Brimmerton Lane, Ts Dasher and Bugs Dash Of Honey completed the field. Bitter Sweet Song was scratched.

Jhony Red Breaks Maiden in Indiana Grand QHRAI Derby

Vega Francisco's Jhony Red surprised the field in Saturday's $105,160 in Indiana Grand QHRAI Derby, getting his first career win by half-a-length under jockey Harold Collins. Backers were rewarded with a $35.00 $2 win payoff.

The Loren Brocka trainee covered the 350 yards in a quick :17.687 seconds to earn a 98 speed index and pickup the winner's purse of $57,838. The lightly raced Corona Casanova colt is 1-1-1 in five starts. Gerald Case Rogers bred the sorrel from the Strawfly Special mare Special Gilda. He came into the race as the final qualifier after finishing third in the June 18 trials.

Mo Zoomo, a Shazoom colt out of Stylish Form, by The Signature, earned $21,032 for owner/trainer Sacramento Chavez. Victor Olivo had the riding assignment aboard the Vaughn and Jill Cook Oklahoma-bred. He has earned nearly $50,000 in eight starts.

You Mitey Right put in a late effort to finish third, earning $10,516 for owner Edward Scott. Gene Cox trains the Hotdoggin gelding bred in Texas from the Man In The Money mare Mitey Mans Missel. The second place check doubled his career total to $20,316. Bred by James and Linda Whitener, he was ridden by Troy Crissup.

Eye Walk, Eye Slip Bye, This Panther Purrs, Valor And Glory, Bv Eye Am Ridin Easy, Tf First Pick and Pescado Fuerte completed the field.
