Los Alamitos Winter Derby(G1) winner Bp Cartel Policy will face runner-up Ready For It in a rematch Saturday at Los Alamitos.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA–MAY 8, 2024–Bill Price’s BP Cartel Policy and Juniors Quarter Horse’s Ready For It, the top two finishers in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby, will face off once again, this time in the $35,000 Dillingham Handicap for 3-year-olds at 400 yards on Saturday at Los Alamitos.    

Nine races are scheduled for Saturday night with the Dillingham scheduled as the featured ninth race on the card. The racing program will also feature six races for juveniles as they continue to prepare for the trials to the Ed Burke Million Futurity on Sunday, May 26.              

BP Cartel Policy and Ready For It are trained by Monty Arrossa and both enter the Dillingham fresh off stakes wins. For the Favorite Cartel gelding BP Cartel Policy, he comes in after posting a 3/4 length victory in the Winter Derby on February 17. He also posted the fastest qualifying time to the Grade 1 race and his effort in the derby final was like his trial win, with the exception that he traveled 2/10th of a second faster in the final. 

To be ridden by Armando Cervantes from post four, BP Cartel Policy will go after his fourth career win.                

Ready For It was a strong second in the Winter Derby and finished 1 1/4 lengths ahead of the third-place finisher. He then came back to win the James Smith Memorial Handicap by 3/4 lengths over Winners Share.

He’ll be going after his fifth career win with Jesus Rios Ayala up from post number three.

Winners Share, recent allowance winner CD Docs Candidata, Jo Lee and the graded stakes placed runner Kevins Wise Corona will also race.
