Trainer Amanda Haar Saddles Two Fastest BHS Opening Quarter Horse Futurity Qualifiers

MILES CITY, MT—MAY 4, 2024—North Dakota-bred Im Rip broke his maiden at first asking today while setting the fastest qualifying time from seven trials contested for the BHS Opening Quarter Horse Futurity at Miles City.

The eight fastest qualifiers will return to the Montana racetrack on Saturday, May 18 to vie for the winner's share of  $50,000-est. purse going a distance of 250 yards.

Ridden by Dakota Wood, Ima Rip posted the fastest time of :13.610 seconds, an 89-speed index, following a length win in his career debut. Trainer Amanda Haar saddled the brown gelding for owner-breeder Tyrell R. Moody.

The son of second-crop sire Rip Tide earned $1,200 from the $2,500 trial purse for this effort. He is out of the Cowboy Cartel mare Cowboywannab.

Haar sent out second fastest qualifier Francisquin, a son of Go To The Gravel who also got his first career win in the fifth fourth trial. Wood also had the riding call aboard the Iowa-bred gelding racing for owner-breeder Michelle Meiwes.

Francisquin clocked :13.652 seconds, an 87-speed index.  He also earned $1,250.

Robert Don Johnson was the leading trainer with four of the eight qualifiers coming from his barn.
